The House Committee on Ways and Mean chaired by Rep. Estrellita Suansing (1st District, Nueva Ecija) on Tuesday approved House Bill No. 9194 or the proposed “Overseas Filipino Workers Hospital Act,” principally authored by former President and now Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. In a meeting presided by Committee Vice Chair Rep. Lianda Bolilia, the measure received unanimous support from Committee Members and resource persons. Roderick Napulen, Statistician-Development Management Officer of the Department of Health (DOH) National Center for Health Facility Development, expressed the DOH’s appreciation for Speaker Arroyo for sponsoring the OFWs Hospital Bill, which ultimately aims to provide assistance to the OFWs. Deputy Speaker Evelina Escudero, as well as Reps. Joey Sarte Salceda, Bayani Fernando and Peter John Calderon were also present during the hearing.
