CELA AWARDING

Land ownership is right around the corner for 156 families residing in Brgy. Punta in Sta. Ana, Manila, as former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo presided on Monday the awarding of Certificates of Land Allocation (CELA) to qualified beneficiaries. The event was attended by Rep. Rosenda Ann Ocampo (6th District, Manila) as well as local government officials and community leaders. With the receipt of their CELA, the families in Brgy. Punta can move on to the titling process by paying the monthly purchase price of P1,333 for 10 years. The awarding of CELA is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1193, signed by Speaker Arroyo in 2006 during her Presidency. Proclamation 1193 transferred the management and administration of a parcel of land measuring 62,273 square meters in Sta. Ana, Manila from the National Housing Authority (NHA) to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The DENR is still working with the local government to smoothen issues and facilitate the grant of CELA to 93 more families in the area. | Caption by Czarina Engracia / Photos by Perfecto Camero / News and Documentation Section-Press and Public Affairs Bureau / House of Representatives of the Philippines
